Collaborative innovation center for the study of China's neighboring diplomacy

The collaborative innovation center for the study of China's neighboring diplomacy was established at Yunnan University (YNU) in 2019 and built by Southwest China's Yunnan province and the Ministry of Education.

It is Yunnan's first philosophy and social sciences collaborative innovation center to be jointly built by the province and the Ministry of Education. It is also the second jointly built collaborative innovation center following the collaborative innovation center for the sustainable utilization of biological resources in Southwest China, which was built in 2018.

A national-level collaborative innovation platform, the center is committed to the theoretical exploration and practical innovation of neighboring diplomacy with Chinese characteristics. In addition, it focuses on the applied research of fields such as geopolitical studies of neighboring countries.

With a solid foundation and deep academic accumulation, the innovation center relies on Yunnan's close proximity to Southeast Asia and South Asia. It gives full play to YNU's discipline and talent advantages in border governance and geopolitics disciplines to conduct research.

It also cooperates with partner units to carry out theoretical exploration and practical innovation of China's neighboring diplomacy. These entities include the China Center for Contemporary World Studies of the International Department of the Central Committee of the CPC, the East Asian Institute of the National University of Singapore, the Institute of International Studies of Fudan University, the School of International Studies of Jinan University, the School of Politics and International Relations of Lanzhou University and the Institute of Asian Studies of China Foreign Affairs University.

Establishment of the innovation center also promotes the development of the philosophy and social sciences disciplines at YNU and powers the university's "double first-class" construction – efforts to build itself into a world-class university with world-class disciplines.
