Institute of Biomedical Research, Yunnan University

Updated: May 12, 2021

The Institute of Biomedical Research of Yunnan University was established in early 2019, to promote YNU's "double first-class" development – its efforts to create a world-class academic institution with world-class disciplines – as well as in response to the growth requirements of Yunnan province's biomedicines and health industry.

Focusing on YNU's double first-class evolution and its own development direction, the institute focuses on cross-integration research of life sciences and medical science – and reportedly strives to make significant achievements in the frontier research fields of the life sciences and medical disciplines.

The institute boasts first-class hardware facilities. It has established instrument platforms for biomicroscopic imaging, physiological biochemistry and molecular cell biology, omics analysis and big data processing – as well as for biomedical engineering research and development. These reportedly provide stable funding support and a free and open scientific research environment for researchers.

The Institute strives to make full use of its geographical advantages and the unique biopharmaceuticals resources of Yunnan province.

It aims to meet the needs of regional and national population health. Its goal is also to focus on the development of small molecules drug synthesis screening, molecular targeted therapy drug development and clinical promotion, and other applied translational research – based on innovative life sciences research.
