The Yunnan University Alumni Association in Beijing held its general meeting in the national capital on May 16 to select its new leadership, according to YNU officials.

Fang Jingyun, president of YNU and president of the parent alumni association of Yunnan University – whose main campus is in Kunming city, capital of China's Southwest Yunnan province – participated in the event, together with other university officials and more than 200 alumni from all walks of life who work and live in Beijing.

Fang gave a talk on the development and achievements of YNU since it was selected to be developed as a first-class university. He also urged the association in Beijing to serve its members, care for the development of YNU and adhere to a high standard of development.

He also invited the alumni to go back to YNU when the university celebrates the 100th anniversary of its founding in 2023.

Jiang Fengtao, founder of Hengdu Law Firm, was selected as the new president of the Yunnan University Alumni Association in Beijing.

He outlined future ideas and plans for the association, pledging to work together with other alumni to build the association into a spiritual home of alumni in Beijing, as well as a platform for alumni to exchange ideas and help each other.

The association would continue to make contributions to YNU's development, he added.
