Center for Vertebrate Evolutionary Biology, YNU

The Center for Vertebrate Evolutionary Biology of Yunnan University (YNU) aims to be a vertebrate evolution research center and independent innovation center that enjoys both international and national influence.

Since its establishment, it has introduced the management model of international academic institutions. Through cooperation with world-class research institutions, the center has become an important base for training high-level talents in vertebrate evolution disciplines and international exchanges and cooperation.

The center serves YNU's "double first-class" construction – efforts to build itself into a world-class university with world-class disciplines.

Yunnan province, together with its surrounding provinces and neighboring countries, is rich in ancient vertebrate fossil resources. The region's fossils have drawn the attention of the global scientific community and international media outlets.

Yunnan province's Luoping, Chuxiong, Lufeng and Eshan boast many ancient vertebrate fossils with high scientific research value.

The Center for Vertebrate Evolutionary Biology of YNU has launched research projects on vertebrate fossils and the preservation environment in Yunnan province and its surrounding areas. These projects involve a high-level scientific research team who is investigating the origins and evolution of vertebrates.

The center aims to establish an international professional research platform to promote systemic and long-term research on vertebrates and talent cultivation in this field.
