Yunnan University (YNU) and Yuxi city in Southwest China's Yunnan province signed a cooperation agreement on May 21 to deepen their existing partnership, with the signing ceremony held in Yuxi's Hongta district.
Representatives from both sides participated in a meeting, including Wang Li, Party secretary of Yuxi, and Lin Wenxun, Party secretary of YNU.
Officials from Yuxi city gave a report on the achievements of previous cooperation between the two sides and briefed future collaboration plans.
Lin said at the meeting that Yuxi is an ideal place for Party history education. He added that in the city, representatives could explore how universities provide better services for regional economic and social development.
Lin said YNU will further improve its services to boost regional development, through integrating local requirements and the university's advantages.
Wang said at the meeting that YNU and Yuxi boast a long-term partnership. During the 14th Five-Year Plan period (2021-25), the city aims to be a pioneering zone for socialist modernization in Yunnan and a national green innovation development demonstration zone – goals that require intellectual and technical support from universities, Wang added.
He said he hopes that Yuxi and YNU can establish further cooperation in industrial development, cultural tourism, the protection of lakes and more.
According to the agreement, the two will deepen their partnership in seven aspects, namely biomedicine, cultural tourism, green agriculture, lake governance, urban management, national unity and talent cultivation.
