CIUT holds lecture on protection of China's intangible cultural heritage

The Confucius Institute at University of Tehran (CIUT) in Iran held an online academic lecture on the protection and development of China's intangible cultural heritage on Aug 15 in celebration of the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Iran.

Established in 2009, CIUT was jointly developed by University of Tehran and Yunnan University.

As the keynote speaker of the lecture, Su Junjie, associate professor of the School of Ethnology and Sociology at Yunnan University, discussed the protection of China's intangible cultural heritage, and shared specific examples of the integration of China's intangible cultural heritage with tourism, products, networks, education, and life.

He also reflected on educational value of intangible cultural heritage in the process of evolution and development.

During the interactive session, teachers and students of CIUT also shared their thoughts on the topic. The president of CIUT proposed an initiative to protect and develop joint intangible cultural heritage between China and Iran.
