It is the second personal member workshop established by the CPPCC Yunnan Provincial Committee and represents a new front for the broadening of the CPPCC's consultation and democracy channels and platforms.
Chen Suiyun, a member of the CPPCC Yunnan Provincial Committee, is also vice president of the School of Ecology and Environmental Science at YNU.
He Bo, deputy chairman of the CPPCC Yunnan Provincial Committee, hoped that the workshop will integrate scientific research and teaching with the performance of duties for the people, and make efforts in advocacy, governance, and consensus building.
The workshop will take full advantage of the advanced exemplary role of its members, take the lead in the study of ecological and environmental problems in Yunnan province, and provide timely opinions and suggestions for providing a reliable basis for the scientific decision-making of the Party committee and the government, He added.
It is also necessary to mobilize students and the public to participate in biodiversity conservation efforts.
Fang Jingyun, president of YNU, discussed the university's construction and development, especially the progress made it has made in environment-related disciplines. YNU has carried out a series of studies in Yunnan's environmental restoration, plateau lake management, and ecological agriculture technology.
YNU will also support the construction of the workshop, which is expected to make significant achievements in teaching, scientific research, and supporting the work of CPPCC members, Fang said.
