In the lecture, Cai reviewed the four historical stages of China's poverty alleviation, focusing on achievements from 2013-2020, and analyzed poverty alleviation by using Yunnan province as an example.
At the end of the lecture, Cai also answered questions from students. They discussed poverty indicators, absolute poverty, the biggest obstacle to poverty reduction, and the impact of the COVID-19 epidemic on poverty reduction.
Shah Ahmed Shafi, president of the Foreign Service Academy in Bangladesh, spoke highly of the lecture. He once worked in the Bangladesh Embassy in Beijing and experienced the tremendous development China has undergone in recent decades.
This lecture is the third English lecture held by the Confucius Institute at Dhaka University since June 2021. The themes of the first two lectures were the protection and utilization of China's intangible cultural heritage, and evolution and the development of higher education in China.
The lecture series has given foreigners a better understanding of China's basic system and culture from different perspectives, which is conducive to promoting cultural exchange between China and Bangladesh.
