Yunnan University (YNU) ranked 23th among colleges and universities in the country in terms of certified software professionals (CSP), according to a ranking released by the China Computer Federation (CCF) on Oct 2.
CSP certification focuses on the actual programming capabilities of software developers and aims to improve the professional computer competence among college and university students.

The certification is esteemed by leading companies such as Huawei, Alibaba, Tencent, Baidu, Lenovo, Xiaomi, and ByteDance, which will provide internship opportunities to students with high CSP certification scores.
A total of 182 students from four schools at YNU, including the School of Information Science & Engineering, participated. The highest score was 340 points (ranking in the top 2.1 percent), and 10 participants had scores of over 200 points (ranking in the top 9.8 percent).
The CSP certification of YNU is organized by the School of Information Science & Engineering, and has been funded by the "subject competition project" of the Undergraduate School for three consecutive years.

Since the launch of CSP certification in 2017, the School of Information Science & Engineering has held 12 certifications, with a total of more than 2,000 participants.
The School of Information Science & Engineering has incorporated CSP into its teaching plan to test students' actual computer programming abilities, which have steadily improved.
