YNU holds 2021 opening ceremony for freshmen

The 2021 opening ceremony for freshmen at Yunnan University (YNU) was held at the university on Oct 11, with the main venue at the Chenggong campus and sub-venue at the Donglu campus.

University leaders, teacher representatives, and all 2021 freshmen attended the ceremony to welcome the new semester.

A total of 4,498 undergraduates, 5,029 postgraduates, and 378 doctoral candidates will begin their studies at YNU.

Fang Jingyun, president of YNU, gave a speech at the opening ceremony. On behalf of the university, Fang extended a warm welcome to all freshmen, parents, and teachers.

He expressed hope that all students would develop their morality, intelligence, physical helath, state of mind, and community spirit during their time at YNU.  

Chen Huaxian, deputy Party secretary of YNU, presided over the opening ceremony. She said that YNU has always regarded the cultivation of high-quality talent as its primary goal and mission.

Various teachers, senior undergraduates, doctoral candidates, and new students of the 2021 school year also delivered speeches at the opening ceremony, which closed with the audience singing the school's theme song.
