Yunnan University shines in ecological civilization photography competition

An ecological civilization photography competition for college students, co-organized by Yunnan University in Yunnan province, recently ended.

The competition was meant to demonstrate China's achievements in implementing the Convention on Biological Diversity and create a warm and harmonious social atmosphere for the 15th meeting of the Conference of the Parties to the Convention on Biological Diversity (COP 15) being held in Kunming.

It was also meant to encourage college students to take better care of grass and trees on campus and in their hometowns, and encourage students to learn more about biodiversity.

Since the competition was launched in January this year, it has received extensive attention and participation from college students across the province. The organizing committee of the competition has received a total of 8,786 submissions from college students from 61 colleges and universities in the province.

Students at Yunnan University won one first-place prize, three second-place prizes,, three third-place prizes, and 55 outstanding awards.

Yunnan University has long attached heavy importance to the development of the ecology and biology disciplines. The ecology discipline was rated A in the fourth round of national discipline evaluations and was selected as a national first-class discipline.

The university has also focused research on plateau and mountain environment changes and plant adaptive evolution, plateau lake ecology and pollution prevention and control, international rivers, and cross-border ecological safety regulations.
