Yunnan University (YNU) students participated in the recently held 46th ICPC Asian Regional Programming Contest Jinan Site and won bronze. This was the first time that the university had won such an award in this competition.
Hosted by the Association for Computing Machinery, ICPC, also known as the "Programming Olympics", is recognized as the largest and highest-level college and university student programming competition in the world.
The competition requires three members from each team to code on-site to solve more than 10 computer problems with practical applications within 5 hours, challenging students' logical analysis, computational thinking, and teamwork abilities.
In recent years, YNU has provided strong support to the student discipline competition system. Relevant departments have approved subject competition projects and carefully cultivated students.
Liu Jinzhuo, associate professor of the National Pilot School of Software at YNU, arranged for students from different majors to form an ICPC training team. Liu personally trained them in algorithms and programming during vacations and developed the OJ platform, which provided platform support for the training and selection of participating students.
YNU students' programming abilities have significantly improved as a result of such efforts.
