Volunteer services shine at YNU

This year's International Volunteer Day fell on Dec 5. Yunnan University (YNU) has always valued volunteer work and has launched a series of related activities.

Grid management started on May 11, 2020 as part of COVID-19 control efforts. YNU Volunteers will undergo pre-job training first, and then learn more details about things such as abnormal body temperatures (above 37.3 degrees) and abnormal behavior.

From March 24 to 26, YNU's Chenggong campus arranged for 16,337 teachers and students to be vaccinated. Volunteers were mainly responsible for order maintenance, temperature measurement, data entry, identity verification, vaccination, and emergency assistance.

During the start of the semester in September each year, to welcome the arrival of freshmen and provide timely assistance, YNU will recruit volunteers from among the student body.

This year, more than 200 volunteers recruited from the school youth association and young volunteers from various schools have helped freshmen complete registration work.

The 15th Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Convention on Biological Diversity (COP 15) was held in Kunming in October. During the conference, YNU volunteers provided important and helpful services.

Efforts have also been made to carry out volunteer service work for postgraduate teaching support. The university arranged for 69 students to provide teaching support in seven regions from 2013 to 2021.

Moving forward, YNU will continue to encourage students to participate in volunteer work.
