Long Denggao studied at Yunnan University from 1984 to 1993 and is now director of the Center for Chinese Entrepreneur Studies and Center for Chinese Economic History at Tsinghua University, as well as a distinguished professor of the Changjiang Scholar Program run by the Ministry of Education.

He is mainly engaged in the research of Chinese economic history, institutional change, and overseas Chinese economy.

Long studied under the guidance of Li Shan, a well-known historian and educator in China, and the founder of the Chinese economic history discipline at Yunnan University, a key national study program.

In Long's opinion, his achievement is inseparable from the guidance and promotion of the elder generation of supervisors, including Li Shan of Yunnan University.

"After nine years of studying at Yunnan University, I have a deep affection for my alma mater. I hope that the good academic tradition of this century-old school will be passed on from generation to generation, so as to cultivate more talents needed by society and contribute to national development," Long said.
