YNU institute selected as national laboratory

Updated: Dec 21, 2021

The Ministry of Education recently announced its first batch of philosophy and social science laboratories, with nine pilot laboratories and 21 cultivation laboratories approved nationwide. The Belt and Road Institute of Yunnan University (YNU) was selected as the cultivation laboratory.

It represents an important breakthrough in the interdisciplinary research of the social and natural sciences at YNU, as well as demonstrates an important way that helps YNU to integrate and serve the national development strategy.

According to the requirements of the Ministry of Education for the construction of philosophy and social science laboratories, the construction period of the laboratories is five years, with the first year used for trial operations. A certain amount of funding will be given during the construction period.

In recent years, YNU has carried out research on the Belt and Road, and strives to build an innovative, open, and international think tank platform, relying on its talent advantages and characteristic disciplines.

Since 2016, YNU has won 13 major bidding projects, special projects and research projects from the Ministry of Education with the theme of Belt and Road.

Going forward, the Belt and Road Institute of YNU will seize the opportunity of being selected and accelerate its development into a national laboratory of interdisciplinary arts, science, and engineering.
