Updated: Jan 4, 2022

2021 was a critical year for the development of philosophy and social sciences at Yunnan University (YNU). Liberal arts teachers and students at YNU produced theoretical innovation and practical transformation achievements that are relevant to the modern era.

Last year, YNU applied for 190 annual projects of the national social science fund, 48 of which were approved, the sixth most among universities in China.

Additionally, YNU published two project achievements in Science Press. Three achievements made by YNU received the national ethnic work excellent research report award, while two won the Ministry of Culture and Tourism excellent research achievement award.

YNU had nine key research projects and five major research projects approved. The Belt and Road Initiative research institute of YNU was selected as the philosophy and social sciences laboratory (cultivation) of the Ministry of Education.

YNU's achievements benefited domestic philosophy and social sciences and had a positive influence on the world.

The School of Economics of YNU and the Kunming area anagement committee of China (Yunnan) Pilot Free Trade Zone jointly established the YNU Free Trade Zone Research Institute in March to promote system innovation in the free trade zone, and accelerate the construction of the South Asia and Southeast Asia radiation center.

During the 12th Southwest Forum in September – in which India, Singapore and other countries as well as dozens of universities and scientific research institutions participated - two professors of the School of Law of YNU published papers.
