Yunnan University seeks to spread Chinese culture

Vice president of Yunnan University Hu Jinming and vice president of Shanghai University Gong Siyi jointly announced the opening of the Confucius Institute Cooperation Online Forum, which was launched by the two universities.

The forum aims to build a platform for regional educational exchange and cooperation, and promote project cooperation and resource sharing between relevant Confucius Institutes.

Additionally, it aims to serve the international Chinese education cause and Chinese-foreign language exchange and cooperation development, as well as promote discipline development, talent training and cooperative research between Chinese and foreign institutions.

To promote cooperation between the two universities and even more Chinese and foreign universities in the construction of Confucius Institutes, cultural exchanges, cooperative research and other fields, the forum will establish a communication and collaboration mechanism, and invite relevant practitioners and researchers to share their views and experiences at the annual events.

The first seminar of the forum was held at the same time. The heads of the international cooperation and exchange offices and Confucius Institute offices of the two universities, as well as the Chinese directors and teachers of the eight Confucius Institutes - in Bangladesh, Myanmar, Iran, Thailand, Turkey, Bahrain and Ireland - attended the seminar.

The participants shared practical experience and exchanged views on the diversification and localization of the development of Confucius Institutes, regional communication strategies for the Chinese Bridge Competition, and online Chinese teaching.
