YNU teachers, students hook up to academic journal Nature

Updated: Jan 14, 2022

The International Cooperation and Exchange Office of Yunnan University (YNU) recently joined forces with Springer Group, publisher of world-class academic journal Nature, to offer a free online course for teachers and students from Jan 1, 2022 to March 1, 2023.

The course consists of pre-recorded segments that are presented by the editors at Nature, professors from internationally renowned universities, scientists from leading research institutions, funding agencies and industry professionals.

The course has various formats, including video, text, quizzes and games. Each course video provides English subtitles and text for students, who can set the format and playback speeds of subtitles.

The platform has nine modules, which are deemed suitable for the field of natural sciences. It is also thought to be beneficial for teachers and students engaged in the study and research of humanities and social sciences, to apply for projects and write and publish English papers. Students are free to choose modules according to their learning progress.

Moreover, students can absorb the lecturers' knowledge, as well as the cumulative experience gleaned from lecturers' years spent in academia, helping them to develop the skills necessary for career development.

On completion of each course, students can download a certificate of study issued by Magdalena Skipper, Nature's editor-in-chief, as proof of their training.
