A Chinese-language business course being offered by the Confucius Institute and the School of Business at the University of Dhaka – located in Dhaka, capital city of Bangladesh – was opened on Jan 8, with leaders of both bodies and students participating in an online launch ceremony.
The Confucius Institute of University of Dhaka was undertaken by Yunnan University (YNU) and started operating in May 2016. The courses there are being taught by YNU Chinese teachers.
At the launch ceremony, Muhammad Shariat Ullah, director of the department of organizational strategy and leadership at the Dhaka university business school, shared his vision of the future.
He said that commerce and trade between China and Bangladesh were developing rapidly and had broad and bright prospects. It was very important for the business school's students, he added, to master a certain level of the Chinese language for their personal development.
At the same time, he added that the Chinese teaching program would promote cultural exchanges and cooperation between the two countries.
The Chinese director of the Confucius Institute, Yang Hui, said she believed they would organize excellent teachers and teaching resources to provide high-quality business Chinese courses for the students.
The Confucius Institute has designed the course to give practical applications for the Chinese language, enabling students to understand the current business environment and business culture in China.
The course is regarded as a positive initiative undertaken by the Confucius Institute's "Chinese +" teaching program.
