Yunnan University stages fire safety drill

Yunnan University (YNU) – located in Kunming, capital of Southwest China's Yunnan province – held a fire safety drill on its Chenggong campus on Jan 28.

The purpose of the drill was to do a more effective job in campus safety management at the start of the winter vacation. It aimed to prevent and resolve all kinds of safety and accident risks, and to ensure that teachers and students staying in school have a safe break.

Teachers, students, dormitory management staff members, logistics staff members and on-duty public security staff members participated.

During the drill, teachers and students conducted evacuations. Public security officers explained the use of fire facilities, and guided teachers and students on how to put out any fires on the spot.

Through the drill, teachers and students got a further understanding of fire hazards – getting to grips with useful information about fire safety – boosting their ability to handle self-rescues and mutual rescues. Additionally, they improved their overall awareness of fire prevention.
