YNU makes major gains in undergraduate education

Yunnan University (YNU) has committed itself to making top-quality undergraduate education a key feature of its academic offering and in this field it is said to have made a series of notable achievements in 2021.

To serve the construction of the Belt and Road Initiative, YNU applied for the establishment of a new energy science and engineering major. At present, the curriculum has been put together, with the linked enrollment plan, major settings and the overall employment market for graduates worked out.

YNU had been selected by the end of 2021 to have 29 national first-class undergraduate programs and 18 provincial first-class undergraduate programs. Among these, the biological science major was selected for the national training plan.

The university had also established 11 national first-class courses and 42 provincial first-class courses by the end of 2021. At the same time, it developed 410 series of demonstration courses and constructed an advanced curriculum teaching system.

Additionally, YNU set up an innovative and entrepreneurial talent training program. It set up 1,124 university-level projects, 204 provincial-level projects and 120 national-level projects, ranking it first in Southwest China's Yunnan province.

In the first National Teaching Innovation Competition, YNU teacher Deng Ming won first prize. YNU's teachers also won approval for 73 industry-university collaborative education projects from the Ministry of Education last year, ranking it 12th among 42 "first-rate universities and disciplines" universities.

In the 7th China College Students' "Internet+" Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition, YUN won two gold awards, one silver award and five bronzes.

The undergraduate education and teaching of YNU is said to have improved its capability for personnel training and to have made substantive contributions to the university's overall development.
