Yunnan University, or YNU – located in Kunming, capital of Southwest China's Yunnan province – is understood to be currently on the hunt to recruit talents from abroad.
YNU was listed among the first group of the national Project 211 program in 1996 and was listed among the first tranche in 2017 of 42 universities that were tasked with establishing world-class universities and first-class disciplines.
Currently YNU is implementing the "National Natural Science Foundation of China Outstanding Youth Science Fund Project (Overseas)" and is on the hunt for eminent professors and academics.
The specific requirements are as follows:
Position and requirements
Abide by Chinese laws and have scientific ethics.
Born on or after Jan 1, 1982.
Candidates should have doctorates with research specializing in natural science, engineering technology and similar fields.
Candidates should have worked continuously for more than 36 months in overseas universities and research institutions prior to April 15, 2022. (The requirement of working years can be relaxed for outstanding performances).
Candidates should have achieved academic attainments recognized by their peers.
Candidates should not been working full-time in China or has been working in China since Jan 1, 2021. Candidates must work full-time in China for at least 3 years if they are selected.
Financial packages
Salary: no less than 600,000 yuan ($94,834) before tax, paid monthly. There are also start-up grants of 4-6 million yuan.
Team building: selected candidates can set up research teams according to the characteristics of the disciplines and development needs, with a preference for enrolled YNU students.
Education and medical care: selected candidates can enjoy the affiliated educational resources of YNU for their children, from kindergarten level to primary and secondary schools. They can enjoy fast-track medical treatment in affiliated hospitals of YNU.
Special version
Candidates who enter the final defense for recruitment but are not selected can be appointed to the position of Young Scholars at YNU and enjoy corresponding treatment.
