YNU helps foreign students practice oral Chinese

Updated: Mar 3, 2022

The third China-Bangladesh Language and Culture Exchange Camp held by the Confucius Institute at the University of Dhaka – located in Dhaka, capital of Bangladesh – opened on Feb 19. Nearly 50 teachers and students from the Confucius Institute and the School of Chinese Language Education at Yunnan University (YNU) attended the event.

The Confucius Institute cooperated with YNU – based in the city of Kunming, capital of Southwest China's Yunnan province – and started operating in May 2016. The courses there are being taught by YNU Chinese teachers.

At the opening ceremony, Yang Hui – Chinese director of the Confucius Institute – expressed hope that the youth of the two countries would make good use of the platform and improve their abilities in language learning and teaching Chinese as a foreign language.

After the ceremony, the camp officially started its first online exchange activity. A total of 44 students from China and Bangladesh were divided into 20 groups.

Chinese students started their first oral English teaching practice as teachers and Bangladeshi students practiced oral Chinese. They helped each other and made strong progress.

The third phase of the exchange camp will last for one month, and after six oral training sessions, there will also be a Chinese speech competition.
