A signing ceremony for a strategic cooperation framework agreement between Yunnan University, or YNU and the China-African Institute took place on March 6 in Kunming, capital city of Southwest China's Yunnan province.

YNU's Duan said that the accord underscored that the institute would provide assistance for the African research work of the university and would mean the forging of generally closer ties between both bodies.

He added the university would give full play to its research advantages, generate high-quality results, train outstanding people engaged in African research, and contribute to the premium development of African research.

The institute's Li urged both parties to undertake joint cooperation in the construction of exchange platforms, research centers, and talent hubs.

The forthcoming cooperation is seen as being of great significance in terms of advancing YNU's research into international issues, developing disciplines and training programs – as well as improving the university's ability to serve the country's strategy towards Africa.
