Eye center of YNU-affiliated hospital gets provincial award

The Eye Refractive Center of the Affiliated Hospital of Yunnan University recently won the first small incision lenticule extraction – or SMILE – surgery quality contribution award in Yunnan province.

The center has been performing SMILE operations since September 2012, and over the past decade it has completed more than 15,000 of the procedures.

With its rich clinical experience, the center provides patients with high-quality medical technology and diagnosis and treatment services. In so doing, it has been demonstrating its regional leadership in the safety, efficacy and surgical quality control of the clinical application of SMILE surgery.

The center provides patients with more than 20 preoperative examinations and accurate postoperative care – forming closed-loop management of standard surgical procedures and providing patients with surgical safety guarantees.

In the most critical preoperative examination to exclude surgical contraindications, the center took the lead in January 2019. That's when it installed the first corneal biomechanical examination system in Yunnan, to eliminate any hidden safety hazards of surgery.

Moving forwards, the central medical team will continue to learn and use the new refractive surgury technology, combined with the latest in development trends.
