Yunnan University celebrates 99th anniversary

The live broadcast "Celebrating the 99th Anniversary of Yunnan University" was recently held at the Donglu and Chenggong campuses of Yunnan University, also known as YNU – located in Kunming, capital of Southwest China's Yunnan province.

The broadcast was hosted by the Yunnan University Alumni Association and the publicity department of the YNU Party committee.

The activity was divided into a live broadcast segment about YNU's wonderful flowers, with other segments called the road to the university, the road to history and the road to literature. The portrayal of the magnificent scenery of YNU's begonia flowers, were said to have successfully rekindled warm memories of the university's alumni.

In addition to the main live broadcast platform produced by the alumni association, it was also broadcast simultaneously on Sina Weibo, Yunnan news network and Workers' Daily client.

More than 5,000 tweets were viewed on the WeChat account of the alumni association, while more than 7,000 tweets were viewed on the school's Weibo account. The alumni service system sent more than 30,000 text messages and more than 60,000 emails. The live broadcast received nearly 230,000 pageviews, with its comment box receiving more than 3,000 comments.

According to the live broadcast, links between the alumni and YNU were boosted by the event, and the foundation was laid for the preparations for the upcoming centennial celebrations, with great publicity for YNU and its profile raised noticeably with the public.
