YNU professor publishes paper in international journal

Updated: Mar 29, 2022

Associate Professor Zheng Li of Yunnan University and Professor Zhu Ling of the University of Houston recently published a paper – named Trade Openness, Job Sectors and Social Policy Preferences: Evidence from China – in the authoritative journal Political Science Research and Methods.

The paper says it is based on "telling China's story and strengthening theoretical and institutional confidence". It ostensibly focuses on the impact and mechanism of the degree of regional trade liberalization on peoples' preferences for social security.

Political Science Research and Methods is the journal of the European Political Science Association. In recent years, the journal has been deemed by international political scientists to be a leading publication in the field of political science and has been recognized in the Social Science Citation Index.

According to a review, the paper found that the positive effect of trade on citizens' social security preferences was affected by the nature of the work units of residents.

The main contribution of the paper is said to be that it expands and empirically tests the existing trade risk theories in the context of China's social economy.

It is understood to indicate that the political sciences at Yunnan University have achieved strong results in bringing in top staff members and improving their disciplines and training – and they have gradually been recognized by colleagues in international academic circles.
