Six projects from Yunnan University, or YNU – located in Kunming, capital city of Southwest China's Yunnan province – were shortlisted for the competition and three projects entered the finals.
Of these, those from the School of Ethnology and Sociology on the Belt and Road Initiative won the special prize. This was the first time in the history of the university that it had won one of the highest awards of the Challenge Cup.
The Law School's project on rural education revitalization won a first prize, while one from the School of Economics on the education of children left in rural areas won a second prize. Three projects from the School of Information, the School of Chemistry and Engineering, as well as the School of Software, won a third prize. All six national competition projects from Yunnan University won awards and the total number of points scored tied at 11th in the country, for the best result in YNU's history.
In addition, YNU also achieved new breakthroughs in the special competition results. In the "Black Technology" special competition, teams also won one award for the highest project and one award for each of the second, third and fourth-level projects.
Moving forwards, plans are for the university to continue to cultivate the scientific spirit of its students, guiding and encouraging them to actively engage in innovative and entrepreneurial endeavors.
