The Confucius Institute at the University of Dhaka held the first lecture – entitled Beautiful Ice City Harbin – in a series of cultural lectures on Chinese urban culture.
The Confucius Institute cooperated with Yunnan University, or YNU – based in the city of Kunming, capital of Southwest China's Yunnan province – and started operating in May 2016. The courses there are being taught by YNU Chinese teachers.
The lecture was given by Chi Yuxue, a Chinese teacher at the Confucius Institute from Harbin, and teachers and students of the Confucius Institute participated in the event.
Harbin, the capital of Heilongjiang province, is a famous historical and cultural city that integrates Chinese and foreign cultures.
Chi explained the city's origin and rapid development after the founding of the People's Republic of China.
In addition, Chi introduced some famous tourist attractions in Harbin, including the Hagia Sophia, Yabuli Ski Resort, and Harbin Central Avenue. She also introduced the city’s main universities, various folk customs, and delicious food.
