The organizer of the 11th Founder Type Design Competition recently announced the final list of winners.

The competition was first held in May 2001 and was the first font design competition in China, as well as one of the most influential design competitions in the country.

With the aim of finding the best fonts from previous competitions, this competition set up two competition units for font design and font application.

Gerry Leonidas, one of the Latin group judges, former chairman of the International Character Design Association, professor of the University of Reading, UK, and a typesetting major, commented: Yuan maintains enough curves to distinguish the letters, and pays close attention to the strokes to achieve the greatest visual impact possible. The strokes that accentuate the curves in style contrast with the curved lines, an impressive feat.
