YNU promotes construction of national laboratory

Yunnan University (YNU) included the Belt and Road Initiative Research Institute in its "first-class universities and disciplines" key construction project. In May 2022, an academic committee composed of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, YNU and authoritative experts in relevant domestic fields was established to develop the institute.

The Belt and Road Initiative Research Institute of YNU was selected among the first batch of philosophy and social science laboratories of the Ministry of Education in December 2021. It has been reported that construction on the first batch of philosophy and social science laboratories of the Ministry of Education will take five years.

The institute research team has so far published 12 academic papers and completed 15 decision consultation reports.

In addition, YNU has recently introduced two full-time researchers and plans to introduce at least eight professional and technical personnel throughout the year.

In addition, YNU will renovate more than 600 square meters in new office space and develop online data mining (including a portal website), an intelligent data analysis system, and a data visualization system.

Duan Hongyun, vice president of YNU, said that the university will also focus on team building, scientific research, platform building, and summarizing its experiences to promote the high-quality development of the institute.
