Screen equipment used by YNU makes big difference

Updated: Jun 10, 2022

The congenital heart disease relief team of Yunnan University (YNU) visited Dongchuan district, Kunming, to carry out volunteer services for congenital heart disease relief.

Over nine days, the team conducted free screening for congenital heart disease for nearly 50,000 adolescents in the district and carried out free admission treatment measures on 24 children who were screened for congenital heart disease.

During the volunteer activity, the portable congenital heart disease auxiliary diagnostic equipment brought by team volunteers became the highlight of screening work. Volunteers collected children's heart sound data through a stethoscope, bluetooth transmission box, mobile phone or tablet, and then uploaded the data to the internet cloud server for analysis and processing to complete the initial diagnosis of congenital heart disease.

The device is simple, has real-time capabilities and is highly efficient, making it easier to diagnose children with congenital heart disease. There are currently eight primary-level pilot hospitals in Yunnan province.

Especially since 2017, after the launch of the "AI-based Congenital Heart Disease Machine Aided Diagnosis System" developed by YNU, the project team has served more than 3 million young people in 134 counties in eight provinces in China and countries in Southeast Asia, such as Cambodia. Children have been provided free screening services for congenital heart disease, and more than 4,000 children have been treated free of charge.
