German project cooperates with Yunnan University

Dr Patrick Blomenkemper from Germany was recently approved by the Feodor Lynen Research Fellowship of the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation to conduct postdoctoral research in China.

The Feodor Lynen Research Fellowship is a program established to subsidize outstanding young German scholars to conduct postdoctoral cooperative research with Humboldt Scholars outside Germany. According to the official display of the Humboldt Foundation, from 1953 to 2021, a total of nine German doctors have been approved by the fellowship to come to China.

Dr Blomenkemper is an excellent young paleobotanist, and has published many research papers in international academic journals such as Science, Review of Palaeobotany and Palynology in which he was listed as the first author.

Researcher Feng Zhuo of the Institute of Paleontology of Yunnan University serves as his postdoctoral cooperative tutor. The project implementation period is from June 2022 to May 2023.

Funded by the Experienced Researcher project of the Humboldt Foundation, Feng went to Germany to carry out collaborative research from 2016 to 2017, and was awarded the title of "Humboldt Scholar" in 2017.

This time, the Institute of Paleontology of Yunnan University was approved by the Humboldt Foundation Postdoctoral Cooperative Mentor project, which further demonstrated the international academic influence of the research direction of plant paleoecology at Yunnan University.
