Enterprise donates toward biomedical research at Yunnan University

With 300 days to go before the 100th anniversary of Yunnan University on April 20, Yunnan University held a donation ceremony for the development of its biomedical application translation research fund on June 24, 2022.

Li Yunchun, director of the Board of Trustees of Yunnan University and chairman of Walvax Biotechnology Co, donated 20 million yuan ($2.9 million) to Yunnan University to set up the fund.

Li said he hoped that the establishment of the fund will further deepen the cooperation between the university and the enterprise and produce a series of achievements in personnel training and scientific and technological transformation.

Walvax Biotechnology Co was founded in Kunming in 2001 and specialized in the research, development, production and sales of biotechnological drugs such as vaccines for human use.

It plays a leading role in the field of biotechnology drug segmentation represented by new vaccines, and has established close cooperative relations with the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, the Coalition for Epidemic Preparedness Innovations and other internationally-renowned institutions.
