At the launch ceremony, Li Xinrui, a student from the School of Business and Tourism Management at Yunnan University, one of the six outstanding project representatives in the country, shared the story behind the Honglingjin project.

Li said that, He Yongqun, the Honglingjin project leader, led more than 3,000 registered poverty-stricken households to raise porcupines, created the Honglingjin platform, and encouraged more than 1,000 villagers to explore the new industry.

He Yongqun is a woman from the Naxi ethnic group with a master's degree from Yunnan University.

In the past five years, Yunnan University has integrated innovation and entrepreneurship education with ideological, political and professional education, and helped young students to effectively connect poverty alleviation and rural vitalization with innovation and entrepreneurship.

So far, more than 600 project teams and nearly 10,000 students from Yunnan University have participated in the youth red tour dream building event.

They have connected with more than 5,000 farmers and 55 enterprises, and signed more than 40 cooperation agreements, generating direct and indirect economic benefits of over 40 million yuan ($5.95 million).
