Yunnan University student volunteers with UN

Wang Zhiwei, a volunteer in the second batch of "Chinese Youth Volunteer Overseas Service Program – Serving the United Nations Organization" project currently studying at the International Institute of Rivers and Ecological Security of Yunnan University in Kunming, has successfully completed his work and recently returned to China.

The project is jointly organized by the China Youth Volunteers Association and the United Nations Volunteers and cooperates with relevant universities to select outstanding college students as international volunteers.

On Dec 3 last year, Wang went to Dubai to volunteer and served in the Dubai Office of the Middle East, North Africa, and the South Asia Regional Cooperation Center (RCC MENA&SA) for half a year. He held the position of climate change assistant under the guidance of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change and the Dubai Department of Climate Change and Environment.

During this time, Wang was mainly responsible for the operation of the RCC MENA&SA website, supporting the effective development, operation and maintenance of relevant databases in Middle East, North Africa and South Asia, organizing and participating in publicity activities, cooperating with relevant alliances, institutions and stakeholders, investigating influential key enterprises and organizations in the regions and conducting data analysis.

"During this six-month volunteer tour, I have gained many skills and learned of the international background of the United Nations organization and its dynamic working environment," Wang said.
