Yunnan University branch of national event for youth opens

The Yunnan University Branch of the Youth College Science Camp themed on biodiversity and evolution – jointly sponsored by the China Association for Science and Technology and the Ministry of Education and undertaken by Yunnan University – recently opened.

This event aims to cultivate young people's interest in science and enhance their awareness of scientific and technological innovation and practical abilities. The holding of science camps at colleges and universities also helps cultivate reserve talent for scientific and technological innovation.

A total of 60 campers from Yunnan, Sichuan, Zhejiang and Shandong provinces will participate in the one-week event. The event will consist of four lectures by famous experts online, and carry out teaching and practical activities such as biodiversity surveys, specimen-making, and virtual simulation experiments.

"I hope that the students participating in the activity will experience the history and culture of Yunnan University and the style of famous scientists, enhance their innovative awareness and practical abilities, and strive to develop a world science and technology power," said Yuan Xiaotang, vice chairman of the Yunnan Association for Science and Technology, in a speech.

At the end of the camp's opening ceremony, the students started the first team collaboration task of the science camp – a creative photo group design activity.
