Yunnan University's team explores tea economy of villages

Yunnan University's rural vitalization research service team came to Jingdong Yi autonomous county from July 22 to 27 to conduct a survey on the local ancient tea industry.

The team consists of two teachers and 15 undergraduates from Yunnan University. During the investigation, the team visited tea mountains to explore the origin of tea, visited tea factories to learn about standardized production, interviewed tea merchants to learn about the production and sale of tea from multiple perspectives, discussed the special tea bureau of Jingdong county, and explored the development status of the tea industry, current problems, and current development ideas.

On the day the team arrived in Jingdong, it held a discussion with relevant personnel of Jingdong County Daqian Tea Co, and both parties explored how to overcome difficulties related to online tea sales.

According to reports, one local tea garden is focusing on creating special teas. It has a total area of 2,800 mu (186.7 hectares) and an output value is 2.28 million yuan ($337,608), and its average household income has increased by more than 10,000 yuan one year.

Additionally, during the field visit, teachers and students on the research service team experienced the healthy local natural environment.
