247 innovation, entrepreneurship projects at YNU approved at provincial level

According to the list announced by the Yunnan Provincial Department of Education, 247 innovation and entrepreneurship training programs for college students at Yunnan University (YNU) have recently been approved at the provincial level – a record high.

Among them, 104 projects were recommended as national-level projects, including two national-level key support projects, namely a "Chinese Herbal Medicine Networking System Based on Compound Machine Vision Monitoring" recommended by the School of Information and "Integrated Solutions for High-altitude Intelligent Inspection" recommended by the School of Software.

Yunnan University has long attached great importance to encouraging innovation and entrepreneurship among college students, built an integrated education model of "class-training-competition-creation", and established a "national-province-school-academy" four-level innovation and entrepreneurship training program system for college students.

Yunnan University encourages students to actively carry out scientific research in key areas such as biotechnology, big data, artificial intelligence, new energy technology, social undertakings, cultural heritage, urban and rural governance, and rural vitalization. More than 85 percent of the university's undergraduates have participated in the project so far.

So far, the university has approved 4,430 school-level projects, 846 provincial-level projects, and 375 national-level projects. The number and quality of the its various types of large-scale innovation projects have increased year by year, and the number of national and provincial projects ranks first among universities in Yunnan province.
