Yunnan University teachers return to Iran to teach Chinese

Updated: Aug 12, 2022

Abdolmajid Eskandari, director of the International Office of the University of Tehran (CIUT), warmly received the newly appointed Chinese Director Li Mei of the Confucius Institute and the public teachers Liu Xiaxuan and Li Li in his office on Aug 6.

CIUT was jointly established by Yunnan University and the University of Tehran. It focuses on teaching Chinese and promoting academic exchanges and cooperation between the two universities.

At the beginning of 2020, due to the impact of COVID-19, the University of Tehran switched to online teaching. Therefore, Chinese teachers of the Confucius Institute returned to China and have been offering online teaching for students majoring in Chinese at the University of Tehran. The university only recently resumed in-class teaching.

Director Eskandari asked the teachers about their arrival in Iran and told them about his memories of visiting Yunnan University. The two sides also discussed the resumption of in-person teaching and the holding of HSK exams.

Afterwards, Li Mei visited Rabiyi, director of the Science and Technology Office of the University of Tehran. They discussed how to use the Confucius Institute to further expand the multi-disciplinary exchanges between the University of Tehran and Yunnan University and promote the two universities in scientific research cooperation, including water resources, new materials, and rice technology.

Some students of the Confucius Institute visited their Chinese teachers after learning that the teachers had returned to Iran and shared their desire to continue studying Chinese in China in the future.
