At the council general election meeting of the Chinese Higher Education Association on Sept 3-4, professors for Yunnan University, or YNU – located in Kunming, capital of Southwest China's Yunnan province – were chosen to be leaders of the Specialized Committee for Foreign Literature.

Liu Shusen, dean of the School of Foreign Languages of Yunnan University, was elected as the chairman of the ninth council and Luo Hong, a professor at the school, was elected as the secretary general of the council. The secretariat of the association was also attached to YNU.

The committee was established in 1985 and has made important contributions to the development of foreign literature research and teaching in Chinese universities for a long time.

Liu said that the new council would conscientiously implement various work requirements. The committee would also continue to conduct in-depth research into strategic, cutting-edge issues and into major theoretical fundamental issues to create a research platform with a future vision.

The committee's 2022 academic annual meeting was also held at the same time. The annual meeting focused on the theme of "Great Changes and Innovation of China's Foreign Literature Knowledge System".

Additionally, the annual meeting also set up five sub-forums and more than 100 experts and scholars from dozens of domestic universities made speeches in the sub-forums.
