Southwest Forum held in Kunming

The 13th Southwest Forum was held both online and offline from Nov 4-6, with the offline venue set in in Kunming, capital of Southwest China's Yunnan province.

The forum was jointly organized by the Chins Center for Contemporary World Studies and Yunnan University Institute of International Relations, among others.

With a focus on the evolution of the Asia-Pacific model and the new development of regional cooperation, more than 80 experts and scholars from domestic and foreign universities and research institutes, including those from Southeast Asian and South Asian countries, were invited to participate in the forum.

Experts and scholars discussed topics such as Asia-Pacific multilateralism and the new development of regional cooperation in Southeast Asia, as well as China-Southeast Asia economic and trade relations and strategic relations.

In addition, this year marks the 20th anniversary of the establishment of the Southeast Asian Institute of Yunnan University. During the forum, a special seminar entitled "Southeast Asian Studies and Regional National Discipline Construction" was held.

Also, the Yunnan University Academy of International and Regional Studies was unveiled at the forum.

The Southwest Forum was co-founded by Yunnan University and the East Asian Institute of the National University of Singapore in 2010 and has become one of the longest-running large-scale international forums in China.
