Graduate school tutor forum organized by Yunnan University

The Southwest United Graduate School Tutor Forum, organized by Yunnan University, or YNU – located in Kunming, capital city of Southwest China's Yunnan province – was held on campus on Nov 12.

The forum was an important part of the sixth Yunnan International Talent Exchange Conference.

Attending the event on-site and online were 25 experts and academics who were employed as tutors of the school from six universities – Peking University, Tsinghua University, Nankai University, Yunnan University, Kunming University of Science and Technology and Yunnan Normal University – as well as about 400 graduate students of the graduate school.

Wang Yunfei, director of the Education Department of Yunnan Province, addressed the forum. Wang said that the tutor forum's purpose was to attract more high-level experts and teams to carry out scientific research in Yunnan. It was also designed to improve the quality of talent training and scientific research levels of the school, as well as serve the economic and social development of Yunnan and the country.

In the four sub-forums – themed on "resources, environment and ecology", "life science and biomedicine", "new materials and green energy" and "education and frontier development" – the tutors and graduate students conducted discussions and exchanges around innovative talent training and cutting-edge academic research issues.

Fang Jingyun, president of Yunnan University and an academician of Southwest United Graduate School, hosted the sub-forum on resources, environment and ecology. Hu Jinming, vice president of Yunnan University and executive vice president of the school, presided over the sub-forum on life sciences and biomedicine.
