Yunnan University IP project recognized nationally

The State Intellectual Property Office recently released a list of outstanding projects for national intellectual property information services in 2022 and one being conducted by Yunnan University, or YNU – located in Kunming, capital of Southwest China's Yunnan province – received recognition.

The project is called "giving play to the retrieval advantages and helping enterprises export" and it was submitted by the University Intellectual Property Information Service Center of Yunnan University.

After three preliminary selection rounds, the project was said to have stood out from 284 cases nationwide and was selected in the second batch of 20 excellent projects nationwide, becoming the only one selected in Yunnan province.

The selection aims to build a platform for exchanges between industries, regions and institutions. The goal is also to fully display the ideas, directions and methods of public information services, explore innovative intellectual property information service models and better serve innovation and entrepreneurship entities.

The establishment of the YNU center jointly was approved by the State Intellectual Property Office and the Ministry of Education in 2020. Since then, relying on the significant data resources of Yunnan University Library, it has provided consulting services for such things as technology development trends analysis and patent competitiveness analysis.

Professional guidance services for patent layouts, protection, and the commercialization of various achievements by scientific research teams on campus are also provided by the center.

In addition, it has also helped with rural vitalization and provided intellectual property information services for the local government, enterprises and farmers.
