The inaugural ceremonies for two new alumni associations of Yunnan University or YNU – located in Kunming, capital of Southwest China's Yunnan province – were held recently.
The celebrations were for the Hainan Alumni Association and the Sichuan Alumni Association of Yunnan University. These were held in Chengdu, in Southwest China's Sichuan province and in Haikou, in South China's Hainan province on Dec 10 and 11, respectively.
More than 70 Hainan alumni and more than 40 Sichuan alumni attended their respective ceremonies.
Wu Jiande, deputy secretary of the Party committee of Yunnan University, attended the two inaugural ceremonies online and congratulated them on the establishment of the two alumni associations.
Wu urged them to carry out more alumni networking and exchange activities – to provide better services for the career development of the alumni, the construction of the school and for local economic development.
Hu Jianfeng, secretary-general of the Yunnan University Alumni Association, read the approval documents agreeing to the establishment of the two alumni associations online and awarded each of them commemorative medals.
