Affiliated Hospital of Yunnan University wins prizes

The 10th National Hospital Quality Control Circle (QCC) Competition recently ended in East China's Shanghai.

The third International Healthcare Quality and Safety Summit Forum was held concurrently with the event.

The competition was divided into 12 special sections, with online presentations and livecasts, attracting more than 250,000 participants.

The Affiliated Hospital of Yunnan university – based in Kunming, capital of Southwest China's Yunnan province – did well.

Its project – called the "Hospital-Community-Family Three-way Linkage to Build a Rehabilitation Management Model for Diabetic Foot and High-Risk Foot" – won honors in the competition.

The project, from the Department of Endocrinology of the Affiliated Hospital of Yunnan University, won first prize in the research section.

In addition, a clinical nutrition project from the hospital won second prize in the Comprehensive Group A section for tertiary hospitals. The project was called "reducing the incidence of enteral feeding intolerance in critically ill patients".

To cap it off, the hospital's pharmacy project for improving the risk management capabilities for high alert drugs in inpatient departments won second prize in a special section of the competition.

Of the prize winners, the endocrinology project innovates the education system for the prevention and treatment of diabetic feet and high-risk feet, the graded diagnosis and accurate treatment process, as well as the quantitative rehabilitation indicators and the continuation of nursing strategies. This is to improve the levels of prevention and rehabilitation of diabetic feet for people.

The quality control circle and other multidimensional quality management tools have been applied in the fields of the hospital's infections management, medical treatment, nursing, testing, medical insurance, equipment, blood transfusion, pharmacy and clinical nutrition.

Deng Yishu, chief physician of the Department of Teaching Management and Xu Jianhua, chief nurse of the Nursing Department of the hospital, were awarded the title of "Advanced Individuals".
