A book donation ceremony was held at the Chenggong Campus of Yunnan University, or YNU – located in Kunming, capital of Southwest China's Yunnan province – on Jan 2.
Several officials from the Gansu and Yunnan provincial committees of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, or CPPCC, attended the event.
The books were given by Ouyang Jian, a 1978 class alumnus of the Department of Economics of YNU – who is the secretary of the Party group of the Gansu Provincial Committee of the CPPCC – and his wife, who also went to the university.
On the occasion of the 100th anniversary of YNU this year, Ouyang and his wife donated 2,050 books from their personal collection to express their deep affection for their alma mater and to enable the books to benefit students.
The volumes cover more than 1,000 categories, bringing together authoritative findings or the latest achievements in certain fields. They include many unique tomes and rare books.
Yang Weijun, deputy secretary-general of the Gansu Provincial Committee of the CPPCC, was entrusted by Ouyang to come to YNU to handle the book donation.
