YNU makes progress in philosophy, social science research

Updated: Jan 10, 2023

Yunnan University, or YNU – located in the city of Kunming, capital of Southwest China's Yunnan province – actively promoted the development of philosophy and the social sciences in 2022 and it boasted a raft of academic achievements.

Some 57 projects at the university were approved by the National Social Science Fund through the course of the year, of which 40 projects were funded. The total number of annual approved projects ranked it at 13th among colleges and universities across the country.

Six major YNU projects were approved – including "Research on the Practice of Chinese Modernization and the Construction of Independent Knowledge Systems of Philosophy and Social Sciences with Chinese Characteristics". That project was led by Professor Guo Taihui at the YNU's Institute of National Politics.

In October, YNU also launched a major project called the "China Rural Social Survey (based on Yunnan)". This undertook the historical achievements of rural vitalization in Yunnan, providing intellectual support for the province.

Additionally, YNU's social service capacity was significantly improved last year, with the influence of its regional and national research continuing to improve.

The construction of the university's Belt and Road Initiative Research Institute was steadily advanced. Elsewhere, the "Century-old YNU" Donglu High end Academic Forum opened and the university's academic columns on the "Ideological Front" were said to have displayed advantageous and characteristic disciplines.
