Yunnan University continues to develop top faculty team

The performance of the academic staff members at Yunnan University, or YNU – located in the city of Kunming, in Southwest China's Yunnan province – was assessed to have improved markedly last year as a first-class faculty team continued to develop.

The review of YNU's staff members coincided with the implementation of its "1+2+3+N" teacher team developmental plan.

The "1" in the plan stands for adhering to the strategy of "strengthening the university with talent" while "2" represents implementing two major plans – its "Donglu Talent Plan" and its "Youth Talent Training Plan".

Meanwhile, the "3" signifies the implementation of introducing, educating and employing talent and the "N" points to YNU's moves to promote the development of a number of teachers.

In 2022, the university implemented a review mechanism for "application qualification + academic qualification". Under it, 233 doctorate holders were publicly recruited to teaching and research posts throughout the year, with the proportion of its staff members holding PhDs increasing by 23 percent year-on-year.

YNU is also said to have continuously strengthened the expansion of an innovation team. Last year, it added 14 provincial innovation teams and saw one lead team and two innovation teams recognized in the provincial "Promoting Yunnan's Talent Support Program".

To top it off, a group at the university in 2022 was selected as an innovation team in a list of 50 key fields issued by the Ministry of Science and Technology.

Additionally, YNU improved its talent working system and reformed its personnel system. An international youth talent forum was also held by the university.
