Yunnan University, or YNU – located in Kunming city, in Southwest China's Yunnan province – implemented its "first-class universities and disciplines" development task in 2022 and is understood to have achieved commendable results.
Last year, the university promoted the "Vitalization Plan for Grassroots Teaching Organizations". In so doing, it built 20 university-level excellent teaching and research offices, cultivating 12 university-level excellent teachers – establishing 25 university-level excellent teaching teams – as well as being approved for six national-level and five provincial-level virtual teaching and research offices.
In 2022, a number of first-rate undergraduate majors were added, taking the total number to 68 – including 47 at the national level and 21 at the provincial level, with a first-rate specialty rate of 81.9 percent.
To fully improve the teaching ability of teachers, YNU held the second Yunnan Division and 16th university-level event of the National Higher Education Teachers' Teaching Innovation Competition. In that, 14 of its teachers won provincial awards and 34 teachers won university-level awards.
In the fifth round of the professional comprehensive evaluation in Yunnan province, the College of Liberal Arts of YNU applied to be awarded the Yunnan Province National General Language and Character Promotion Base.
In addition, YNU was selected in the first batch of national-level innovation and entrepreneurship college construction units last year. It got approval for 25 projects in the first batch of industry-university collaborative education projects issued by the Ministry of Education in 2022.
